David Read:
Hi, everyone. This is David Read with Dial the Gate. Welcome back to another episode. This episode, we’re covering the Master Replicas Milky Way and Pegasus Galaxy Stargates. I’ve been hanging onto these for a while, been really looking forward to opening them up and seeing the level of detail that we’ve got. Mainly because I wanted Martin McClean’s pieces to come in and enhance them. His stuff is available as well. I’ll be leaving some links in the description below. They complement what Master Replicas has already created. Let’s have a look. So, today I have both the Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis models. Nice box. First edition, I might add. It sounds like they’re planning on releasing more. Let’s open her up and have a look. Really been looking forward to this one in particular, ’cause this one is the benchmark from which everything else after came. She’s really in there nice and snug. I like it. And you got a complete ring. They didn’t just do a piece. Oh, wow. It’s lighter than I expected. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Oh, look, the detailing. It’s pretty darn good, man. Here’s the point of origin, it’s underneath. So, that would be up. With both of the SG-1 and Atlantis editions, they have this pedestal. And, now this is heavy, this is really heavy. This is not insubstantial. It’s really heavy. That’s like a brick. Raised SGC logo on it. Got a smooth finish underneath. You got these light scratches on it here. I suppose those are all different… Stargate SG-1 TM in 1997 to 2024 MGM. It’s a nice base. OK. It goes… Wow, like that. They’ve done a great job. I really love the color. I love the detailing. It leans back, so it’s not gonna… It is a little loose in there. I guess it could lean forward if you wanted it to. There is some play. Don’t know how I feel about that. But, if you wanted to put it in there tight, I’m sure you could. But I love that the whole thing is removable. I’ll go outside and play ring. All right. They did a great job. And for the price point, it’s really worth it. This was not overly expensive. I love that Master Replicas is doing what it can to create items across all ranges of price points. From little spaceships to the gold pyramid ship, and the Stargates fit nicely in between, as it were. Very, very good. Let’s look at what Martin McClean created, SGA Gate Builder, to go along with this as an alternate panorama. Here is his base, and the dial home device. Then, put this… This should fit. I have it right. Where’s the… Oh, there it is. OK, let’s see. It goes straight in. Really works. He sold it. That’s good stuff, Martin. See, that’s the thing that I love when… There’s some play in there too. When fans and companies can come together and make nice pieces. And Master Replicas has actually been liking Martin’s posts, SGA Gate Builders’ posts online. So, it seems like they approve of the melding of their creations and fan creations, which is really cool. You don’t see a lot of companies do that, especially today when everyone’s copyright hungry. What a great job. This is really nice. This is really nice work. I love the little plants. Let’s check out Atlantis. All right. Stargate Atlantis, Stargate First Edition. Got the Season One Atlantis artwork. The Pegasus Gate was discovered in the Lost City of Atlantis after Daniel Jackson found the gate address and realized that an international expedition could travel through the Stargates to the distant Pegasus Galaxy. The replica Stargate measures 9.25 inches or 23.5 centimeters across. It is made of polystone and comes with a separate display base. That was really cool because the… I wanted to check that the Stargate SG-1 box doesn’t have that. As before, heavier, substantially heavier. They said it was thicker. And I think we’re gonna be able to do a comparison here really quickly. What a beauty. My gosh. How pretty. And that would be Earth right there. If you never noticed, the Pegasus Constellations has one that resembles Earth very closely. So, canonically it makes no sense in terms of star constellations, but they referenced the Earth constellation in the Pegasus Galaxy. All right. Good job, guys. Really impressed. This is half the weight. There’s only a handful of Stargates that have been released to the mass market. The other one… a couple of the others, one I have, the other one I don’t have anymore, was the toy from… The name escapes me right now, the toy company that put out all the Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis toys several years ago. The other one that I have is Legends Memorabilia. And over 20 years ago they put out an SG-1 gate, long before 3D printing was a thing, and that is this right here. This is the other one that I have, and I really wanted to compare the detail because they’re almost exactly the same scale, almost. But you can really tell the artistry in both of them. Master Replicas has done a great job. Let’s have a look at this here. Here’s the original SG-1 one that they put out, that Legends put out, and then Atlantis here, and then Earth. They’re nice and heavy. These could be door stoppers. Very good. No Atlantis logo. No Atlantis logo or Pegasus Expedition logo, I guess, technically, but I still like it. It’s got the same kind of scratches and scuff marks, and it’s definitely thicker. Let’s see. Very nice piece. Very, very nice. I think they really complement each other well. I’m a proud Master Replicas customer of 20 years, and these continue the proud tradition that company has to make excellent props. The SGC gate definitely has this inner layer to it, here. It’s not on the Milky Way Stargate. The Pegasus Galaxy Gate is more accurate than the Milky Way Stargate. I’d be really interested in knowing why that is. Was it a cost-cutting thing, that they shrunk it in terms of its depth? Because the Pegasus Galaxy Gate definitely was taken from the molds of the Milky Way Gate, they just fabricated more. So, I’m curious as to why that was done. But, other than that, these are the most authentic that I have come across, and they’re gonna look really nice on the Dial the Gate set at my office. Really looking forward to showing them. Ben Robinson with Master Replicas is gonna be joining us just after we wrap this video. I hope you’ve enjoyed a closer look at these pieces, and let’s see what Ben has to say. We’re gonna talk with him about some of this stuff and get some more insight into the process that Master Replicas goes through to pick pieces and create some beautiful items for fans to collect. My name is David Read for Dial the Gate, and I’ll see you on the other side.
